Statement for Meadow Head School who have recently pertused three images for their permanant colection.. Image to be upoaded soon
I started out as a student learning techniques such as drawing, painting, sculpting, printing... before long I started experimenting with street art applying what I had become skilled at in an urban context and discovered new techniques which complemented my existing knowledge such as stencilling.
At the time the context and content for each style was very disconnected. Not wanting to leave any style behind I developed a desire to bring together the different styles of work I had familiarity with.
When I started to bring together my methods and ideas I discovered a number of things at the same time...
One that when modern mediums and methodologies are combined with traditional a new and interesting tension is formed...
Two that when multiple elements are present in a picture the viewer instinctively attempts to justify their presence...
Three with the knowledge the viewer is trying to justify the presence of elements it can be fun to tell a story, make a statement or make work which is just fun to deconstruct.
Fore it's really fun to play with materials... When I play with the materials I have I find it more rewarding than when I stick to the practices I know
